Discovering the world of wimsett

Meet Frederick Wimsett…

When we came across Frederick Wimsett’s Instagram account, we were blown away by the sheer beauty of his work.

A Polyvine user, Frederick had tagged us in a recent project, and well what can we say? It’s safe to say we fell hard for the stunning murals and artistic design Frederick creates.

Frederick is an American born artist who found home in the mystical town of Glastonbury, Somerset, but also has a strong work connection to London.

In words taken from his website, “Frederick’s work brings a sense of childlike wonder at the beauty of nature to every project. An intuitive sense of colour, a unique take on the natural world and an exacting eye for detail make his bespoke murals and screens an illuminating backdrop or a defining centrepiece.”

His art is featured in many stylish British homes, including some well-known names, and he has expanded into wallpaper, homewares, greeting cards and fragrances.

We spoke to Frederick about his work and how he uses Polyvine to protect the superb results of his talent.

In a recent piece called ‘Peacock’, commissioned by a private client in the New Forest, Frederick used acrylic paint on canvas, with metal leaf. It was painted in the studio, then installed in person on site. Frederick used Polyvine metal leaf size for this project, which is popular amongst decorative artists for its long working time and how effectively it works with gold or metal leaf.

In another project for a private client in London, Frederick themed a study to have a ‘Tropical’ vibe. He used acrylic paint, and finished with Polyvine dead flat decorators varnish, for a durable finish, giving a long life to the beautiful art beneath it’s clear, matte finish.

In a dining room painted with ‘Poppies and Palms’, Frederick used acrylic paint and finished with Polyvine decorators varnish in satin, for a soft, subtle sheen,

Finally, this ‘Woodland’ Mural, which was painted on canvas in the studio using acrylic paint, and then finished with dead flat varnish, was applied to the wall at the Jib Door private members club and Indigo restaurant in Bath.

Polyvine really is everywhere you look, even though you can’t always see it, and we are so pleased to know that it protects the work of talented artists like Frederick all over the world.
