It’s Time to Say Goodbye to Mike
Mike has decided it’s time to move on, and after 28 years at Polyvine, we’re all feeling a bit nostalgic this week.
When It All Began
Mike joined Polyvine 28 years ago, joining the company in the Bottling team. During his career here, he has moved up through the ranks, all the while working his socks off and being an integral cog in the Polyvine machine. From Bottling, he progressed to Supervisor and then to Production Manager. He was a huge part of the company’s relocation to Cheddar and there are many photos of Mike hauling furniture around and helping to build and create the future home of Polyvine.
From Production Manager, he became Factory Manager, and through years of hard work, extra qualifications and training, and sheer determination, he became Production Director.
When we asked Mike why he stuck around for so long, he had this to say: “Work is a lot lighter, and a lot better, when you get to do it with people who make you laugh while you’re getting things done”. Never a truer word spoken. There is not a day goes by where Mike isn’t cracking a joke with his team or telling you a tale about his latest adventures.
He loves holidays with his family, rock music, country music, gigs and of course, Disney! He is also incredibly sporty and often cycles to work and back, and has taken part in many a charity run.
Over the years, he has contributed so whole heartedly to the social side of Polyvine. Arranging team building days and activities, pub outings, annual Christmas and Summer parties, charity bike rides and sponsored events – Mike is always the first to the party.
Never too shy to take part in a marketing Tik Tok video, and dressing up as an Elf every Christmas, his joy in the workplace will be thoroughly missed.
The Future
Mike, we wish you all the best for the future and a lifetime of success and happiness. We will miss you dearly, but as you leave us, we hope you can leave behind just a sprinkle of your everlasting joy, because the world is a better place with people like you in it.
