application and advice

preparation

All surfaces must be clean and free from dust, dirt, oil and contamination. Remove oils/resins from oily hardwoods and resinous softwoods. Treat new wood with a wood preservative to remove all traces of fungus and mould. Ensure pretreatment is compatible and completely dry, before application. Joints, end grain and glazing beads must be completely sealed. Water penetration into the timber will produce unsightly water staining and promote fungal growth beneath the clear varnish.
Instructions in the technical data sheet must be followed. Ensure the product is well mixed.

application

Using a good quality brush, apply evenly using light brush strokes, following the grain of the wood. Keep a wet edge and avoid overlaps. Apply the first coat and allow to dry. On new wood dilute the first coat with 10% water. Sand lightly to obtain the best finish. Apply three coats.
To achieve a fully protected dead flat finish apply 3 coats of satin before a final coat of dead flat.

caution

Always apply to a test area before starting work. Care must be taken when applying in high temperature or direct sunlight as this will affect drying time. Do not apply when rain is imminent. Coating life will be reduced on horizontal surfaces and where the coating is in contact with the ground or pooled water.

storage

Protect from extremes of temperature during storage and application.

health, safety and the environment

Keep out of reach of children. Non-hazardous. Ensure good ventilation.
Contact with eyes - wash immediately with warm water. Remove excess from tools and mixing vessels before washing in warm soapy water.
