Made in Britain Members
We are so proud to announce that we are now official Made in Britain Members, a milestone that feels especially meaningful as we enter into our 40th year of British manufacturing.
For the last four decades, Polyvine have researched, developed and manufactured specialist water-based varnishes, coatings and decorative effects entirely in the UK, from our factory and office site in Cheddar, Somerset.
Becoming Made in Britain Members formally recognises what has always been at the heart of business; British manufacturing, quality craftsmanship and a long-term commitment to the painting and decorating industry.
What does becoming a Made in Britain Member mean?
Made in Britain is the UK’s leading organisation for British manufacturers, representing businesses that design and make their products in the UK. Membership is a trusted mark of provenance, transparency and of course, quality. These are all values that align perfectly with Polyvine’s ethos.
By joining Made in Britain, we are reaffirming our commitment to:

Polyvine – proudly Made in Britain since 1986
Founded in 1986 by Peter and Anne Wells, Polyvine has remained independently owned and family-run, with three generations now working in the business. From the very beginning, all research, development and manufacturing has taken place in the UK, which can be a rarity in today’s coatings market, and is something we are very proud of.
Why British Manufacturing Matters to Us…and Our Customers
Manufacturing in the UK gives us complete control over:
- Product formulation and performance
- Consistent quality and batch control
- Innovation and product development
- Sustainability and environmental responsibility
For our customers, from painters and decorators. to joiners, finishers and specialist contractors, it means confidence in the products they’re using. Confidence that every Polyvine product has been developed by varnish experts, tested rigorously, and made to last.
A Year of Celebration and Progress
Becoming Made in Britain Members comes during a landmark year for Polyvine. In our 40th year we can celebrate just completing an extensive brand refresh, continuing to invest in UK-based R&D and manufacturing, strengthening our position in the UK and Global marketplace and the knowledge that we have completed four decades of supplying the painting and decorating industry with integrity and expertise.
Joining Made in Britain is simply a celebration of who Polyvine have always been. The mark is a symbol that our customers can look for with confidence; a sign that Polyvine products are designed, developed and manufactured in the UK, just as they have been since 1986.
