Thoroughly sand in the direction of the grain to remove all traces of old finishes and dirt, oil and contamination. Old floors can be impregnated with wax and grease - this will cause failure and must be completely removed. On new wood or if the old finish is in good condition, lightly sand to provide a key. Thoroughly clean after sanding.
Ensure the product is well mixed. Apply 3 coats of varnish. On new wood and porous surfaces dilute the first coat 50% with water. Lightly sand wood in between applications to remove any raising of the grain that may have occurred.
Always apply to a test area before starting work. Appearance may vary according to the colour and type of wood and the number of coats.
Do not apply over uncured oil paints.
